013: It's a wrap |
It’s hard to believe that the curtain is closing on yet another year. We’ve spent time looking back and then turned our sights on the future. But now that the data’s in, we’re going to take a stroll down memory lane and look at the most interesting links we shared this year.
You learn some funny things looking through engagement data. One thing became pretty obvious: issue number six stole the show with engagement. Also, you all like good music (or at least what I consider good music), like Andrew Bird’s “Tables and Chairs,” and “Seasons (Waiting On You)” by Future Islands.
Thanks again for choosing to fly with us, and check out the top five links below from 2022. Can’t wait to see you all in 2023!
Snackable snippets |
#1 - Is your organization going through change? 2022 felt like a year of change. Google concurred. This year we asked “can I change _____” more than years past. Though change is stretching, and at times stressful — we know change is necessary and when managed well, leads to growth. #2 - The power of apology “I’m sorry” feels vulnerable. Yet those two words also contain power. Power to rebuild. Power to learn. Power to invite purposeful connection. #3 - How to build a community from the ground up As our friends Jon + Becky always say: “community is everything”. This year highlighted this reality, and organizations are being more intentional about “building community” as a top priority. The challenge, it’s not something you “launch” or “turn on” it requires intention and care. #4 - 12 questions to shape your 2023 quests Finding the right answers always starts with asking the right questions. Greg Head has some amazing questions for organizations to ask themselves before they jump straight into 2023. #5 - You’re in the people business Nobody has ever sat down to a meeting with an organization or household. They’ve sat across the table or been on a Zoom call with a person. People are people, and the most successful organizations are going to be the ones that make people feel valued and heard. BONUS - MY PERSONAL FAVORITE - 10 lessons from Paul Farmer’s life Paul Farmer will be missed in the years to come, but all of us together can continue to live out his dream — one in which we all extend dignity to every human we encounter. |
In the news |
As the year comes to a wrap, Google has some interesting facts on all of us collectively. The most searched for term this year was Wordle. I don’t know how often I would text my family if it weren’t for Wordle.
Time announced Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, person of the year. Well deserved, as he united Ukraine and has kept it free to choose its own destiny — a reminder that “impossible” is only so until it’s done.
